Indian semiconductor startup NetraSemi is planning to begin mass production of its first chip later this year, marking a significant step for India’s growing semiconductor industry. The company is reportedly focusing on AI-powered edge computing and smart vision processing solutions for sectors including surveillance, automotive, industrial automation, and smart devices.

Founded in Kerala, NetraSemi has emerged as one of India’s notable fabless semiconductor startups developing indigenous chip design capabilities. The company recently unveiled its system-on-chip (SoC) platform designed for edge AI applications that require high processing efficiency with low power consumption.
According to reports, NetraSemi expects its first chip to enter commercial production during 2026 as it works with manufacturing partners and expands customer engagements. The startup is also aiming to tap rising demand for AI-enabled chips and edge computing technologies across multiple industries.
Industry experts say India’s semiconductor ecosystem is witnessing rapid momentum as the government pushes local chip design, semiconductor manufacturing, electronics production, and deep-tech innovation under various incentive schemes. Startups like NetraSemi are increasingly viewed as important contributors to India’s long-term semiconductor ambitions.
The company’s progress comes amid India’s broader efforts to reduce dependence on imported semiconductor technologies and strengthen domestic capabilities in chip design and advanced electronics. Reports suggest NetraSemi is also exploring opportunities in global markets as demand rises for specialised AI and edge computing chips.
