The Indian Navy is preparing to induct five indigenous naval platforms this month: INS Dunagiri, INS Mahendragiri, INS Sanshodhak, INS Agray, and INS Malwan. The vessels include two Project 17A stealth frigates, a large survey vessel, and two anti-submarine warfare shallow water crafts.

INS Dunagiri, a Nilgiri-class stealth frigate, was built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, while INS Mahendragiri, another Project 17A frigate, was constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. These warships are designed with advanced stealth features, modern sensors, and powerful missile systems.
The survey vessel INS Sanshodhak, also built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders, is equipped for coastal and deep-water hydrographic surveys and navigation mapping.
Meanwhile, INS Agray and INS Malwan belong to the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft programme being built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders in partnership with Larsen & Toubro. These vessels are designed to detect and neutralise underwater threats while strengthening coastal security.
The induction of all five vessels highlights India’s growing shipbuilding capabilities and further strengthens the Navy’s operational readiness across the Indo-Pacific region.
