Apple Inc. has announced a new set of environmental initiatives in India aimed at boosting renewable energy, cutting plastic waste, and supporting green startups. The programs are part of its broader target to become carbon neutral across its entire operations by 2030.

₹100 crore push for renewable energy
A major part of the plan is a ₹100 crore investment in renewable energy projects in partnership with clean energy developer CleanMax.
The initiative will help develop over 150 megawatts of renewable energy capacity, enough to power around 150,000 households annually. The project is also expected to support Apple’s supply chain in India as it shifts toward cleaner energy sources.
Apple has previously worked with CleanMax on rooftop solar installations for its offices and retail stores in the country.
Tackling plastic waste with WWF-India
To reduce plastic pollution, Apple is working with WWF-India on waste collection and recycling systems.
The program builds on earlier work in Goa with Saahas Zero Waste, where systems were created to collect and process recyclable waste with traceability to prevent environmental leakage.
The model is now being expanded to regions such as Coimbatore, working with local communities, authorities, and waste workers to improve recycling and recovery systems.
Support for green startups with Acumen
Apple is also partnering with Acumen to support early-stage companies working in circular economy, waste management, and sustainable livelihoods.
The program provides funding, mentorship, and technical support to six enterprises, including:
- Saptkrishi, which offers low-cost crop storage solutions
- Yotuh Energy, which builds electric refrigerated transport vehicles
- Mowo Fleet, a platform enabling women to work as EV drivers and entrepreneurs
These efforts aim to strengthen innovation in climate-focused businesses.
Focus on innovation and sustainability
Apple says its environmental efforts are closely linked to innovation across its operations and supply chain.
Company executives noted that investments in clean energy and sustainability are not separate from business strategy but part of how the company builds long-term resilience.
Towards carbon neutrality by 2030
Overall, the initiatives reinforce Apple’s goal of achieving full carbon neutrality by 2030. The company is combining renewable energy expansion, waste reduction systems, and startup support to reduce its environmental footprint while promoting sustainable development in India.
