Switch Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group and a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, announced on Monday that it has delivered 100 electric buses to the Government of Mauritius, marking a significant step in India–Mauritius cooperation on sustainable public transport.

The final consignment of 90 buses was formally handed over by India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam during an official event attended by representatives from both countries.
These buses were supplied through an open tender process by Convergence Energy Services Limited and are being operated by the National Transport Corporation in Mauritius. The delivery is being described as the largest export of electric buses from India and was executed under a government-to-government arrangement as a grant from India.
The fleet consists of Switch EiV12 electric bus models, each designed to carry up to 45 passengers. The buses are equipped with advanced telematics for real-time monitoring and fleet management, lithium iron phosphate batteries placed on the floor for improved stability, and a dual-gun charging system to enable faster charging and efficient depot operations.
This deployment is expected to support Mauritius in reducing carbon emissions and improving public transport efficiency, while also strengthening Switch Mobility’s presence in international markets.
The company stated that it has already deployed more than 2,400 electric buses globally and over 2,500 units across India, including intercity electric buses operated by various state transport undertakings such as UPSRTC.
