Kerala Industries and IT Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty said the state government is planning to set up incubation centres in colleges to support tech-driven MSMEs and strengthen links between higher education institutions and industry.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly during Question Hour, he said the initiative aims to improve youth employability, encourage entrepreneurship, and help students develop industry-relevant skills before entering the job market.

He noted that preliminary discussions have already taken place with Higher Education Minister Roji M. John to frame policies that deepen academic-industry collaboration and promote the creation of new micro, small and medium enterprises in the state.

The proposed plan is part of Kerala’s broader strategy to reduce student migration, generate local employment, and build stronger capacity among young professionals through innovation and enterprise development.
