Kuku Technologies is building a 1,000-member AI-led production unit as it scales its microdrama business ahead of a planned ₹3,500-crore initial public offering (IPO), according to reports.

The Mumbai-based unit has already hired nearly 200 people and is expected to reach around 1,000 employees by the end of the current financial year. The team will bring together writers, filmmakers, creative professionals and AI-focused talent to accelerate content production.
The company, which operates Kuku TV and Kuku FM, is increasingly using artificial intelligence across the content production process. The technology is aimed at speeding up production while reducing costs, particularly as demand for short-form microdramas grows in India.
Kuku has confidentially filed IPO papers and is looking to raise up to ₹3,500 crore. The company is reportedly targeting a valuation of up to ₹15,000 crore when it goes public.
The company’s expansion comes amid growing competition in India’s microdrama market. Kuku TV has emerged as a major player in the segment, while the company is betting on AI to strengthen its content creation capabilities and support further growth.
Kuku’s move highlights how AI is increasingly being integrated into India’s digital entertainment industry, not only for technology development but also for writing, production and content scaling.
