Escorts Kubota Ltd is set to launch a major tractor manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of ₹4,500 crore. The facility, coming up in Sector-10 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, will be spread over 200 acres and is expected to generate employment for over 4,000 people in a phased manner.

The project follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Uttar Pradesh government on August 17, 2024. The UP government officially allotted the land to the company earlier this week, signaling a significant push for industrial and agricultural equipment manufacturing in the state.

“In the first phase, Escorts Kubota will invest ₹2,000 crore to develop a tractor plant, a commercial equipment unit, and allied facilities,” an official statement said. The second phase of the project will depend on market demand and the capacity utilization of the initial phase.

This strategic move aims to serve both domestic and global markets, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. Additionally, the company will establish shared R&D services from India for Kubota’s global operations, further cementing India’s role in innovation and industrial excellence.

Formed in 2019 as a joint venture between India’s Escorts and Japan’s Kubota Corporation, Escorts Kubota Limited manufactures a range of tractors, engines, farm machinery, and construction equipment. The upcoming plant is a major step in positioning India as a global hub for agricultural and industrial machinery.

The investment is expected to significantly boost local employment and infrastructure while also contributing to the region’s industrial growth.
