PepsiCo India has inaugurated its new flavour manufacturing facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, with an investment of ₹1,266 crore, marking a major expansion of its production footprint in the country.

The 22-acre facility is part of PepsiCo’s larger ₹5,700 crore investment commitment in India through 2030, announced earlier this year. The expansion is aimed at boosting manufacturing capacity, strengthening supply chains, improving sustainability practices, and supporting long-term growth in one of the company’s key markets.
Second Flavour Plant in India
The Ujjain unit is PepsiCo India’s second flavour manufacturing facility in the country and will produce beverage concentrates for its existing product portfolio. The company said the plant is among its largest manufacturing investments in India and is expected to act as a catalyst for industrial growth, job creation, and development of ancillary industries in central India.
The facility is projected to generate around 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
Focus on Sustainability and Green Operations
The plant has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability, operating on renewable electricity sourced from clean energy systems. It also incorporates zero liquid discharge technology and advanced water-efficiency measures.
PepsiCo said it aims to replenish 100% of the water used at the facility, reinforcing its commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing and long-term sustainability goals.
Strong Push for Local Manufacturing
Company executives said the new plant reflects PepsiCo’s “In India, For India” strategy, highlighting its long-term commitment to the Indian market. The facility integrates global manufacturing technology and is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to serve its beverage portfolio more efficiently.
PepsiCo also already works with over 2,000 farmers in Madhya Pradesh through its agricultural sourcing programs, particularly for chip-grade potatoes, further deepening its rural supply chain presence.
Government Support and Economic Impact
The facility was virtually inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, along with senior PepsiCo leadership, including global and regional executives.
The Chief Minister said the investment reflects growing investor confidence in Madhya Pradesh and will help strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem. He added that the project will generate employment, boost industrial development, and encourage further investment in the region.
Strengthening Industrial Ecosystem
Beyond direct operations, the plant is expected to support wider growth in the food and beverage manufacturing ecosystem in Madhya Pradesh by attracting related industries and infrastructure development.
PepsiCo said the Ujjain facility reflects its long-term commitment to India, combining global technology, sustainability practices, and local partnerships to build future-ready operations.
