Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was recently seen stepping out of the MG M9, a premium electric luxury MPV. The sighting highlights Gadkari’s continued preference for cleaner and more environmentally friendly vehicle technologies.
Gadkari has previously been seen using alternative-fuel vehicles, including the Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle and the Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel, which can operate on ethanol blends of up to 85%.
MG M9 Electric MPV
The MG M9 is currently one of the most premium models offered through MG’s luxury dealership network, MG Select. Unlike Gadkari’s earlier hydrogen and flex-fuel vehicles, the M9 is powered entirely by electricity.
The luxury MPV comes with a 90-kWh NMC battery pack that powers an electric motor producing 241.65 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. It offers a claimed range of up to 548 km on a single charge.
The battery can reportedly be charged from 30% to 80% in around 30 minutes, adding to the vehicle’s practicality for longer journeys.
Premium Interior And Features
The MG M9 comes equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control and a 13-speaker audio system with a subwoofer and amplifier.
The second-row Presidential seats offer 16-way adjustment, along with eight massage settings, heating and ventilation. An intelligent armrest allows passengers to control several comfort functions.
The cabin features Cognac Brown leather upholstery and suede-wrapped seats, while the MPV offers up to 1,720 litres of flexible storage space and a 55-litre front trunk.
Safety And Technology
Safety features include seven airbags and a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), along with a range of driver-assistance technologies.
Gadkari’s use of the MG M9 adds another electric vehicle to his list of environmentally focused mobility choices, following his earlier association with hydrogen fuel-cell and ethanol-powered vehicles.
