Adani Group is making a massive infrastructure bet on India’s growing artificial intelligence ecosystem, with up to ₹30,000 crore estimated for the first 400 MW phase of Google’s planned AI data centre hub in Visakhapatnam.

Adani Enterprises has disclosed the project’s first detailed cost and financing estimates, with construction costs estimated at around ₹70-75 crore per MW. At the upper end, the 400 MW phase could therefore cost approximately ₹30,000 crore.
The project is being executed by AdaniConneX, the joint venture between Adani Group and EdgeConneX, as the first awarded phase of Google’s broader 1 GW AI hub in Visakhapatnam. Google had announced the larger project with AdaniConneX and Airtel in October 2025, describing it as a major investment in India’s AI infrastructure.
Construction began at the Tarluvada site in April 2026. The initial 400 MW capacity is targeted to become operational within 2.5 years, while full construction and customer deployment are expected to take around 40-48 months.
The financing structure is designed around an infrastructure-style model, with Adani targeting 70-80% debt financing. Based on the estimated ₹28,000-30,000 crore construction cost, the equity or advance funding requirement could be around ₹5,600-9,000 crore. Debt is expected to have a tenor of roughly seven years, backed by service contracts offering about 10 years of revenue visibility.
The Visakhapatnam hub forms part of Google’s approximately $15 billion investment in an AI infrastructure ecosystem in India between 2026 and 2030, including gigawatt-scale data centre operations, connectivity and clean-energy infrastructure.
The project is significant not only for Adani and Google but also for India’s ambitions to build large-scale domestic AI computing capacity. Adani has separately committed $100 billion by 2035 towards renewable-powered, AI-ready data centre infrastructure, with plans to expand its national data centre capacity from 2 GW to 5 GW.
With AI workloads demanding enormous amounts of computing power, electricity and data centre capacity, the Visakhapatnam project positions Andhra Pradesh as an emerging hub in India’s AI infrastructure race. The first 400 MW phase could be an important step towards the larger 1 GW campus and India’s broader push to build AI infrastructure at hyperscale.
