India is set to receive a significant defence boost from the United States through Apache attack helicopters, M777 ultra-light howitzers, and potential support agreements valued at more than $428 million.

According to reports, the proposed support package includes maintenance, spare parts, training, logistics, and sustainment support aimed at strengthening operational readiness for India’s existing defence systems.
The Apache AH-64E helicopters are considered among the world’s most advanced combat helicopters and are expected to enhance India’s battlefield capabilities, particularly in high-altitude and strategic operations. Meanwhile, the M777 ultra-light howitzers are designed for rapid deployment and have already been integrated into India’s artillery modernisation programme.
Defence analysts say the latest developments reflect deepening strategic and military cooperation between India and the United States amid growing geopolitical tensions and evolving security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
Experts believe enhanced defence collaboration between the two countries could further strengthen India’s military modernisation plans, improve interoperability, and expand access to advanced defence technologies and support systems.
