India and Trinidad and Tobago have strengthened their bilateral partnership by signing eight agreements across key sectors including tourism, healthcare, infrastructure, and Ayurveda during External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s two-day visit to the Caribbean nation.

According to an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar visited Trinidad and Tobago on May 8–9 and held discussions with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and other senior leaders. The talks focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries and reviewing progress on initiatives announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit last year.
During the visit, eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed covering tourism development, solarisation of the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs building, vector control programmes, infrastructure upgrades at Nelson Island, and the establishment of an Indian Chair in Ayurveda at the University of the West Indies.
In addition, Jaishankar handed over the first batch of 2,000 laptops to selected school students in the presence of the Prime Minister. He also inaugurated an agro-processing facility, which was set up using machinery worth $1 million provided by India in the previous year.
The agreements are aimed at deepening cooperation and supporting development initiatives while also strengthening cultural and educational ties between the two countries.
