ICICI Bank, in partnership with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has initiated construction of a new state-of-the-art cancer care building at TMC’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The project, funded through the Bank’s CSR contribution of ₹625 crore, aims to create one of India’s largest radiation therapy centres, equipped with advanced cancer treatment technology.

This initiative is part of ICICI Bank’s broader commitment of ₹1,800 crore to TMC for establishing three modern cancer care facilities—located in Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra), Mullanpur (New Chandigarh, Punjab), and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh).
The foundation stone for the new building, named the ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology’, was unveiled at a ceremony attended by Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Chairman of ICICI Bank; Executive Directors Sandeep Batra and Ajay Gupta; and Dr Sudeep Gupta, Director of TMC.
Expanding Radiation Oncology Infrastructure
The 11-storey facility, spanning 3.4 lakh square feet, will house 12 Linear Accelerators (LINACs) and other cutting-edge equipment for precision cancer treatment. These LINACs target cancer cells with high accuracy while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Once operational, the centre will provide radiation therapy to approximately 7,200 patients annually, delivering over two lakh radiation sessions. Additionally, the block will offer outpatient consultations and diagnostics to around 25,000 new patients each year. The project is expected to be completed by 2027, with implementation overseen by the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, the Bank’s CSR arm.
At the ceremony, Sinha highlighted the Bank’s focus on healthcare, environmental conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. He noted, “The ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology will significantly enhance access to advanced radiation therapy across India and strengthen critical healthcare infrastructure.”
Batra added, “Our ₹1,800 crore commitment to TMC underscores our dedication to improving cancer care. The new Navi Mumbai facility will increase radiation treatment capacity sixfold and provide expanded consultation and diagnostic services. We are honoured to continue supporting TMC’s mission to make cancer care more accessible.”
Enhancing Access to Advanced Cancer Treatment
Dr Sudeep Gupta expressed gratitude for ICICI Foundation’s support, stating that the new facilities in Navi Mumbai, New Chandigarh, and Visakhapatnam will provide world-class, evidence-based treatment to underserved patients, including centres of excellence for childhood and adult blood cancers.
Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, Director of ACTREC, emphasized that the facility will not only deliver affordable, advanced treatment but also serve as a training hub for medical, technical, and paramedical staff, strengthening the nation’s capacity to address the growing cancer burden.
Dr C.S. Pramesh, Director of Tata Memorial Hospital, highlighted the Bank’s hands-on partnership in addition to financial support, noting that it will help provide equitable, high-quality cancer care and advance cutting-edge research nationwide.
Facilities and Features
The ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology will include:
- Advanced radiation therapy equipment for precision treatment.
- Radiology facilities such as MRI, CT scanners, and CT simulators for both outpatient and inpatient care.
- Dedicated research and training spaces for healthcare professionals.
With this landmark project, ICICI Bank and TMC aim to significantly strengthen India’s cancer care infrastructure and provide advanced treatment to a wider patient base while supporting education and research in oncology.
