Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written the foreword for the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography I Am Giorgia – My Roots, My Principles. In it, Modi described the book as her own “Mann Ki Baat,” saying it goes beyond personal reflections to highlight ideals that resonate across cultures.
“I am delighted that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is penning her autobiography, I Am Giorgia. Over the last 11 years, I have engaged with many world leaders, each with a unique journey. Sometimes, these stories speak to something larger and remind us of values that endure across civilizations. Prime Minister Meloni has several such experiences in her accomplished life, making this book very special,” Modi wrote.

Connection to Nari Shakti
Linking Meloni’s rise to the Indian concept of Nari Shakti, or feminine power, Modi said her story reflects strength, rootedness, and confidence on the global stage. “She has held firm to her roots while leading her nation with confidence. That is why her journey resonates so deeply with us in India,” the foreword notes.
Shared Values and Friendship
Calling shared traditions and modern outlooks the “bedrock” of his friendship with Meloni, Modi highlighted the mutual respect for heritage, community, and womanhood that binds India and Italy. “As India and Italy deepen their partnership, this book will enrich our understanding of each other and reinforce the importance of human connection at the heart of global cooperation,” he added.
The #Melodi Factor
The personal camaraderie between Modi and Meloni has often drawn attention online. During the COP28 summit in Dubai, Meloni’s selfie with Modi captioned with the hashtag #Melodi went viral worldwide. Earlier this month, the two leaders also spoke by phone, discussing regional and global issues. Meloni wished Modi on his 75th birthday, praising his leadership and commitment to India’s development.
