Indian cinema has reached a major milestone as the Dhurandhar duology directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh becomes the first Indian film franchise to surpass Rs 30 billion in worldwide box office earnings. According to trade reports from Sacnilk, the combined global collection of both films has now crossed this historic mark, placing it at the top of Indian franchise earnings.

The first film, Dhurandhar, released on 5 December 2025, initially had moderate expectations but quickly gained strong audience support after release. The spy action thriller maintained steady momentum in theatres, driven by positive word of mouth and repeat viewership. It eventually earned over Rs 840 crore net in India, crossed Rs 10 billion in domestic gross, and concluded its global run with around Rs 1.3 billion worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
The sequel, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, released four months later, built on the success of its predecessor and exceeded even higher expectations. The film has already collected more than Rs 1.7 billion globally and continues to run in some international markets. Domestically, it created history by becoming the first Indian film to cross Rs 10 billion net in a single language.
Together, the two films have achieved several records, including being the first Indian franchise to cross Rs 30 billion worldwide and the only one with both entries individually surpassing Rs 10 billion. The first film also ranks among the top-grossing Indian movies globally, while both instalments benefited from strong word of mouth and long theatrical runs.
The success of the Dhurandhar series highlights a growing shift in Indian cinema toward large-scale, multi-film storytelling. It also shows how Indian franchises are increasingly resonating with global audiences, marking a significant change in the industry’s box office landscape.
