Soham Parekh, an Indian software engineer, is facing serious allegations in Silicon Valley after Suhail Doshi, co-founder of Mixpanel and Playground AI, accused him of secretly working for multiple startups at the same time. Doshi made the accusations public on social media, stating that Parekh misled teams and founders by not disclosing his involvement in three to four early-stage companies simultaneously.

Questionable Resume and Integrity Concerns

Doshi questioned the authenticity of Parekh’s professional profile, claiming that 90% of his resume appeared fake and that many linked references were inactive. He also revealed that he had tried to guide Parekh towards more ethical behavior but said those efforts failed. According to Doshi, the situation raised concerns about trust and transparency in early-stage startup environments.

Summary of Soham Parekh’s Shared Resume

Doshi shared what he claimed to be Parekh’s full resume to support his claims, highlighting a series of overlapping roles at various tech firms:

Current Role at DynamoAI (Jan 2024–Present)
Parekh is listed as a Senior Software Engineer (Contract), responsible for building dashboards with D3 and visx, implementing backend systems using Nest.js, integrating ML models, streamlining deployments via Pulumi, and addressing critical security vulnerabilities.

Previous Role at Union.ai (Jan 2023–Jan 2024)
He worked as a Senior Fullstack Engineer contributing to Flyte and Union Cloud Console, developing workflow orchestration tools using Go, Python, React, and implementing real-time gRPC-based systems for workflow visualizations.

Synthesia (Dec 2021–Dec 2022)
Parekh reportedly contributed to the in-browser video editor Synthesia Studio, working on real-time collaboration features and enhancing video editing capabilities through CRDTs and custom plugin integration.

Alan AI (Jan 2021–Dec 2021)
As a Founding Software Engineer, he is said to have developed ML pipeline visualizations, launched Alan Studio for AI training in-browser, and improved performance across various services, including training pipelines and backend API optimizations.

GitHub (May 2020–Aug 2020)
During a short stint as an Open Source Fellow, Parekh contributed code to support Windows systems for Node Version Manager (NVM).

Educational Background

  • Georgia Institute of Technology
Master’s in Computer Science (2020–2022) with coursework in deep learning, NLP, distributed computing, and operating systems.
  • University of Mumbai
Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering (2016–2020) with a GPA of 9.83/10 and subjects ranging from AI to cloud computing.

Public Reaction and Ongoing Attention

The incident has sparked debate about remote work ethics, resume integrity, and moonlighting practices in the tech sector. Some social media users have criticized Parekh, while others suggested that the growing gig culture and unclear boundaries in startup hiring may have contributed to such situations.

Despite the controversy, there were reports of other entrepreneurs expressing interest in hiring Parekh, with some suggesting that ambition, not dishonesty, might have driven his choices. However, Doshi claimed that Parekh himself questioned whether he had permanently damaged his career.

The case remains a talking point in tech circles, raising questions about how startups vet talent and manage remote teams
