A video has surfaced showing an idol of Lord Ganesha made out of oranges and lemons that was claimed to be shot recently during Ganesh Utsav in Holland. Channeliam Fact Check delved into the claim but found out that was false. The video in question is actually from the 2018 Lemon Festival held in Menton, France, a Bollywood-themed one.

Origin of the Video

On September 10, 2024, Facebook user Nilesh Keniya posted a video wherein he was claiming that “amazing supernatural form of Ganpati made from oranges in Holland” had been created during Ganesh Utsav celebrations. This post went viral soon after that, as long as people believed the video was done lately in Holland.

However, the video is from the 2018 Lemon Festival in Menton, France. During this festival, an idol of Lord Ganesha was created using oranges and lemons as part of a Bollywood-themed display. According to sources, including one report by Live Hindustan and the official YouTube channel of ‘AGENCIA EFE’, which focus on the origins of the festival,

Reused Viral Content

This video has also been trending some time before. In the past review, [email protected] checked out if it is true that the video came from the 2018 Lemon Festival of France. In addition to this, we have searched for an article on euronews.com regarding the 2024 version of the Lemon Festival where the theme was the Olympics and thus gave us evidence that the viral video is not connected with any current event.

Claim Busted

Channeliam Fact Check saw a video circulating around an idol of Lord Ganesha from oranges and lemons during recent Holland celebrations as misleading. The video is related to the 2018 Lemon Festival in Menton, France and cannot be associated with current events. We would like our readers to verify such claims before sending them for social media sharing.
