Union Minister G Kishan Reddy unveiled the Nirman portal in New Delhi, a significant initiative aimed at supporting deserving candidates of the UPSC examination. The portal, which stands for Noble Initiative for Rewarding Mains Aspirants of National Civil Services Examination, offers a generous reward of Rs 1 lakh to eligible candidates.
This initiative, in alignment with ‘Mission Karmayogi’, is made possible through the support of Coal India Limited as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. The notification specifies that Coal India will provide the reward to deserving youth from its operational districts who have successfully cleared the preliminary round of the UPSC examination for Civil Services & Forest Service in 2024.
The financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh will be extended to qualified candidates with an annual family income below Rs 800,000, belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, females, or the third gender. These candidates must be permanent residents of any of the 39 operational districts of the company, including locations like Dhanbad and Ranchi in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, and Nagpur in Maharashtra.
Applicants meeting the eligibility criteria can utilize the Nirman portal to apply for the scheme benefits. The entire application process will be conducted digitally through the dedicated portal to ensure transparency and efficiency.
This initiative aims to enhance the educational and employment opportunities for disadvantaged students from coal-bearing regions. Coal India, a state-owned coal mining corporation established in 1975, is recognized as the largest coal producer globally, contributing to 80% of coal production in India. The company and its subsidiaries operate in eight states across the country.
