E-Luna: Embracing Legacy, Sustainable Mobility, and Electric Innovation for a Modern India

Luna, an iconic two-wheeler that dominated Indian roads for nearly three decades, is making a comeback in a new electric form, E-Luna. Sulajja Firodia Motwani, founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, reflects on Luna’s historic legacy and its significance in Indian automotive history.

Despite selling an impressive 50 lakh units during its lifetime, Luna faced challenges with increasing emission standards and heavier engine requirements, leading to its production halt. The core promise of simplicity and affordability became compromised as costs and weights escalated.

Motivated by a desire to pay homage to her father’s legacy, Sulajja Firodia Motwani spearheaded the reintroduction of Luna as E-Luna. This electric two-wheeler aims to redefine mobility in India, catering to the evolving needs of a modern and progressive society.

For Motwani, bringing back Luna as E-Luna is more than just a business venture; it’s a heartfelt tribute to her father’s vision and commitment to serving the ‘common man’ with indigenously-crafted vehicles.

E-Luna is envisioned as a catalyst for electric mobility, particularly in non-metro cities where demand for convenient transportation solutions is on the rise. With its sustainable and efficient design, E-Luna aims to address the transportation needs of urban and rural commuters across India.

Drawing inspiration from Luna’s popularity for affordability and practicality, E-Luna seeks to embody the same spirit while offering the advantages of electric mobility. Its unique design and features are tailored to cater to the shifting landscape of electric mobility, positioning it as a versatile and practical choice for consumers nationwide.
