Musk Plans to Make Low-cost Tesla for Developing Markets Like India

Musk considers making low-cost Tesla for markets like India and Indonesia
He said this in a virtual address to a business forum meeting during the ongoing G-20 summit in Indonesia
For a long time, Musk has been at odds with India over Tesla’s entry into the Indian market
India wants him to set up a local factory
However, Musk is not quite keen on the idea
Instead, he wants India to reduce its high import taxes on electric vehicles
India currently imposes a 100 per cent duty on fully imported cars with a Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) value of over $40,000
