According to a study published by the China Passenger Car Association(CPCA), Tesla Inc. delivered 83,135 electric vehicles (EVs) built in China in September, breaking its previous record for a single month.
The number represents an 8% rise from August and set a record for Tesla’s Shanghai factory since production began in December 2019. As the American automaker continues to invest in production in China, the number surpassed the previous deliveries high of 78,906 in June.
In the third quarter, Tesla delivered 343,830 electric vehicles worldwide, a record for the most valuable automaker in the world, but fewer than the 359,162 analysts on average had anticipated, according to Refinitiv.
Following a major production halt at the Shanghai facility in July for an update, Tesla accelerated its China deliveries, increasing the factory’s weekly manufacturing capacity to about 22,000 units from levels of about 17,000 in June, according to a prior report from Reuters.
Tesla has worked to operate the factory in China’s commercial centre at full capacity ever since the facility launched in its second-largest market in late 2019.
