Aditya Birla Group company Hindalco Industries is planning a major expansion in India, with a potential investment pipeline of up to ₹1 lakh crore.

The company has already earmarked ₹50,000 crore for strategic growth projects across its value chain over the next three years. Another ₹50,000 crore worth of investment opportunities are currently being evaluated.
The proposed investments will focus on Hindalco’s upstream and downstream businesses, including capacity expansion across mines, aluminium and other operations.
Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said the company is preparing for rising demand for metals in India. Aluminium consumption in the country is expected to increase significantly over the coming decades, while copper demand is also projected to grow sharply.
The investment pipeline comes as Hindalco seeks to strengthen its position across the metals value chain and support India’s growing industrial and infrastructure needs.
If fully realised, the proposed investments could mark one of the largest expansion programmes by an Indian metals company, strengthening domestic production capacity and creating new opportunities across the mining and manufacturing ecosystem.
