Flipkart is set to enter India’s competitive online food delivery market, with Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy confirming that the company plans to launch the service in the coming weeks.

The Walmart-owned e-commerce giant is expected to initially test the offering in a single city, gather customer feedback and assess its value proposition before expanding to more locations. The service will be rolled out in partnership with the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
Flipkart’s entry will put it in competition with established food delivery platforms such as Zomato and Swiggy. The company is expected to use a combination of its main app and a separate interface for the new service.
The move marks another major expansion for Flipkart, which has been diversifying beyond traditional e-commerce through businesses including quick commerce. The company has indicated that it will focus on testing and refining the food delivery model before pursuing aggressive expansion.
With India’s online food delivery market continuing to grow, Flipkart’s entry could intensify competition and bring another major technology player into the sector.
