The Indian Navy and the Government of Kerala have conducted a joint review of the state’s coastal security preparedness, with senior officials discussing ways to strengthen the maritime security framework.
Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command and Commander-in-Chief, Coastal Defence (South), and Kerala Chief Secretary Bishwanath Sinha co-chaired the annual Joint Coastal Security Review Meeting in Thiruvananthapuram on July 23.
Senior representatives from the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, along with officials from the Kerala Government, State Police, intelligence agencies, fisheries, ports, customs and other stakeholder departments, participated in the meeting.
The review assessed progress on key coastal security initiatives since the previous meeting and examined emerging maritime security challenges.
Participants also discussed the adoption of advanced technologies to build a more resilient coastal security framework, with particular emphasis on indigenous technologies and collaborative solutions to counter evolving threats.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Indian Navy and the Kerala Government to strengthen coastal security through sustained inter-agency coordination, information sharing and a whole-of-government approach.
