Haier India plans to invest ₹7,000 crore in a new home appliance manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh, marking its largest investment in the country to date. The proposed plant will be located at Satyavedu in Tirupati district, where the state government has earmarked around 250 acres for the project. The investment will be implemented in two phases, according to reports.

The project will establish Haier’s first manufacturing base in South India, expanding its existing production footprint in Pune, Maharashtra, and Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The company aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing and meet demand across multiple consumer appliance categories.
₹7,000 Crore Investment in Two Phases
The proposed investment comprises ₹4,500 crore in the first phase and ₹2,500 crore in the second. The first phase is expected to become operational by 2028, while the overall investment programme is planned to extend through 2032.
The facility will manufacture air conditioners, washing machines, televisions and small appliances, including air purifiers and kitchen appliances. The project is expected to generate 6,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect employment opportunities by 2032.
Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore Corridor Gains Momentum
The proposed plant will be located within the wider Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore manufacturing corridor, near the established Sri City industrial hub. The region has attracted electronics and consumer appliance manufacturers due to its industrial infrastructure and access to transport networks.
The location offers connectivity to National Highway 16, airports and several ports, including Chennai, Ennore, Kattupalli and Krishnapatnam. This infrastructure could support the movement of components, machinery and finished products as the facility develops.
The project also adds to the growing concentration of appliance manufacturing investments in the region. LG Electronics is developing a manufacturing facility at Sri City, while other electronics and component manufacturers operate across the wider industrial belt.
Haier Expands Its India Manufacturing Strategy
Haier’s proposed Andhra Pradesh facility forms part of its broader expansion strategy in India. The company has been increasing production capacity and expanding its product portfolio as it seeks to strengthen its position in the consumer durables market.
The company is targeting revenue of ₹22,000 crore by 2028, according to earlier reports. The new plant is expected to support its manufacturing capacity and create opportunities for suppliers, logistics providers and supporting industries.
For Andhra Pradesh, the proposed investment could strengthen the state’s consumer electronics manufacturing ecosystem and expand employment opportunities. The actual economic impact will depend on the project’s execution, production ramp-up and development of its supplier network.
