Anand Mahindra and Anuradha Mahindra have contributed Mahindra & Mahindra shares worth around ₹300 crore to Mahindra University as part of an endowment aimed at supporting the institution’s long-term educational and charitable goals.
The latest contribution, combined with earlier donations, completes the ₹500 crore personal pledge made by Anand Mahindra and his family in March 2024.
Shares Worth ₹300 Crore Donated
According to Mahindra University, the latest endowment includes 8,67,027 equity shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, representing 0.07% of the company’s total voting share capital.
Of these, Mahindra University has received 6,50,270 M&M shares, equivalent to 0.05% of the company’s total voting share capital. Mahindra Educational Investments has received another 2,16,757 shares, representing 0.02%.
The shares have been transferred as an endowment without consideration. Neither Anand Mahindra nor Anuradha Mahindra will receive any proceeds from the contribution.
Funds to Support Education and Research
The endowment will be used to strengthen Mahindra University’s educational and charitable activities. The contribution is expected to support infrastructure development, scholarships, research grants, student assistance and academic operations.
The donation is part of the Mahindra family’s broader commitment to supporting education and creating opportunities for future generations.
Anand and Anuradha Mahindra Highlight Education
In a personal note, Anand and Anuradha Mahindra said education has always been an important value in their family. They said they believe a meaningful legacy is built through giving back to society and creating opportunities for the next generation.
They also pointed to the progress made by Mahindra University since their ₹500 crore pledge in March 2024.
According to them, the university has expanded into new disciplines, attracted students and faculty from India and abroad, and developed partnerships with leading universities around the world.
They said the institution is gradually building the foundations of a university designed to have a lasting impact.
Mahindra University in Hyderabad
Mahindra University was established in Hyderabad in May 2020. It currently offers more than 50 programmes across seven schools and eight centres at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
The latest endowment is expected to strengthen the university’s ability to expand its academic infrastructure, support students and promote research as it continues to develop its programmes and global academic partnerships.
