Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has partnered with Adani Defence Systems and Technologies Ltd and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) to manufacture fuselage structures for India’s Prachand Light Combat Helicopter.
The partnerships are aimed at expanding India’s domestic helicopter manufacturing capacity and building a stronger indigenous aerospace production network.
Adani Defence and BEML to Make Fuselages
Under the agreements, BEML will manufacture 48 fuselage structures for the Prachand LCH, while Adani Defence will produce 42 structures.
The agreements were signed by senior officials from HAL, BEML and Adani Defence. HAL said the partnerships would help increase production capacity and strengthen the domestic supply chain.
Private Industry Enters Helicopter Production
HAL Chairman and Managing Director Ravi K said the collaboration marks an important step for India’s aerospace industry, as private companies are being integrated into the production of helicopter fuselage structures.
He said the partnerships would help expand manufacturing capacity, strengthen the domestic supply chain and improve India’s capabilities in indigenous aerospace production.
HAL Expands Prachand Production
HAL has already increased its production capacity for the Prachand LCH and has begun manufacturing the 156 helicopters ordered for the Indian Armed Forces.
The production is being carried out at HAL’s new helicopter manufacturing facility in Tumakuru, Karnataka.
The addition of two more production lines is expected to further increase the overall manufacturing capacity for the Prachand programme and support timely deliveries to the armed forces.
Boost for Indian Aerospace Suppliers
The expanded production network is also expected to benefit Indian MSMEs, component manufacturers and other aerospace suppliers.
HAL said the wider industrial base could create opportunities for more Indian companies to participate in the helicopter programme, helping develop specialised manufacturing skills and strengthen the country’s domestic aerospace supply chain.
The partnerships with Adani Defence and BEML are part of the broader effort to increase private sector participation and expand indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities in India.
