Flipkart is preparing to launch its food delivery business around August 15, with Bengaluru expected to be the first city for the rollout. The service will operate on the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and marks the e-commerce giant’s entry into India’s highly competitive food delivery market.
According to reports, Flipkart is offering restaurants a commission of around 10%, significantly lower than the rates typically charged by established food delivery platforms. The company has already begun onboarding restaurant partners and plans to expand the service to additional cities in phases after the initial launch.

By leveraging ONDC’s open network model and competitive pricing, Flipkart aims to attract both restaurant partners and customers while challenging the dominance of existing players. The move represents another major expansion for the Walmart-owned company as it broadens its presence beyond e-commerce into digital services and local commerce.
