The Government’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has issued a warning about fake emails circulating online that claim to help users download their e-PAN cards.
The agency said these emails are fraudulent and advised citizens not to click on suspicious links or respond to messages asking for financial details or sensitive personal information.
In a post on X, PIB Fact Check asked users to be cautious about emails with subjects such as “Download e-PAN Card Online” and clarified that such communications are fake.
The warning comes after several scam emails were found offering instructions to download e-PAN cards while attempting to collect personal information from recipients.
PIB Fact Check advised people to avoid sharing confidential details through emails, links, phone calls or SMS and to verify any information through official government platforms before taking action.
The fact-checking unit regularly issues alerts against misleading claims, fake messages and online scams to help citizens stay protected from digital fraud.
