External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, commending the country’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran. The meeting took place as Washington and Tehran resumed negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme, with Qatar playing a key mediation role.
During the discussions, Jaishankar expressed appreciation for Qatar’s contribution to promoting regional stability through dialogue and diplomacy. He acknowledged Doha’s efforts in helping create an environment conducive to renewed negotiations between the US and Iran amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

The two leaders also reviewed the growing India-Qatar partnership, focusing on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, technology and regional security. They discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties while exploring new opportunities for collaboration across strategic sectors.
The meeting reflects India’s deepening engagement with Gulf nations and its continued support for peaceful diplomatic solutions to regional challenges. It also underscores the importance of India-Qatar relations in advancing economic cooperation and contributing to stability in the wider Middle East.
