US telecom major T-Mobile has launched its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, India, marking a significant expansion of its international operations. The company plans to hire nearly 1,000 employees by 2027, according to an official statement from the Telangana government.
The new tech centre was formally inaugurated in Hyderabad, where T-Mobile has leased around 250,000 square feet of office space.
Focus on advanced tech capabilities
The GCC will serve as a key hub for building advanced technology functions, including software engineering, DevOps, product development, data analytics and cybersecurity.
These roles are expected to support the company’s global operations while strengthening its engineering and digital capabilities from India.

Global Capability Centres in India have evolved beyond traditional outsourcing hubs into strategic units that support core business functions of multinational companies.
Hyderabad, along with Bengaluru, has emerged as one of the top destinations for new GCCs. According to industry estimates, these two cities account for a majority of new global capability centre investments in the country.

Company representatives said Hyderabad offers strong advantages in terms of skilled technology talent, innovation capacity and an established tech ecosystem.
A senior executive at the centre highlighted that the city provides a strong base for scaling global technology operations efficiently.

Reports from industry bodies note that India continues to attract a large share of GCC investments, with companies increasingly using these centres for high-value engineering and product development work rather than just back-office operations.
The new T-Mobile facility adds to this growing trend of multinational firms deepening their technology footprint in India.
