Sabar Dairy, a member of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation that markets products under the Amul brand, is setting up an integrated dairy plant at Toopran in Telangana’s Medak district. The project is being developed with an investment of nearly ₹400 crore and will initially process 5 lakh litres of milk per day.

The facility will produce milk, curd, buttermilk, lassi, paneer, ice cream and ghee, along with other dairy products. The project is expected to strengthen local milk procurement, processing and value addition while creating better market opportunities for dairy farmers.
The plant is expected to be completed within 18 months. Telangana minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the project could directly employ around 350 people and benefit nearly 10,000 dairy farmers through milk collection, transportation, processing and distribution activities.
The project is part of the broader push under White Revolution 2.0 to strengthen dairy cooperatives, expand market access and increase milk procurement through cooperatives. Telangana is set to receive 1,525 new dairy cooperative societies under the programme.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah had been scheduled to lay the foundation stone during his Telangana visit. However, his October 4 visit was cancelled due to an undisclosed engagement in New Delhi, and no fresh date has been announced.
