Japanese electronics components manufacturer Hirose Electric Co. Ltd. is set to establish its first manufacturing facility in India, choosing Tamil Nadu as the location for the new plant. The project will involve an investment of around ₹100 crore and marks the company’s entry into the country’s manufacturing ecosystem.

The announcement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding exchanged between company officials and the Government of Tamil Nadu in the presence of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and Industries Minister T. R. B. Rajaa.
Phase 1 to Create Jobs and Produce Precision Components
The first phase of the project is expected to generate around 100 jobs. The facility will focus on producing precision connectors and other electronic components that are widely used across multiple industries.
Precision connectors play a crucial role in modern electronic systems. They enable secure power and data transmission between devices, electronic modules and control units. These components are commonly found in smartphones, consumer electronics, industrial equipment and next generation mobility technologies.
Connectors Power the Electronics and EV Ecosystem
The demand for high quality connectors has grown rapidly as industries adopt more advanced electronics. In the automotive sector, these components are essential for electric vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems and integrated digital platforms within vehicles.
Their role has become even more important as vehicles and devices increasingly rely on complex electronic networks to function efficiently.
Strengthening Tamil Nadu’s Electronics Manufacturing Hub
According to Guidance Tamil Nadu, the investment is expected to strengthen the state’s electronics supply chain and attract further global manufacturing investments.
With several international electronics and automotive companies already operating in the region, the new facility will further reinforce Tamil Nadu’s position as a key production hub for global technology and mobility manufacturers.
