Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), India’s largest integrated transport company, has become an adopter of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), committing to report on nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities in line with TNFD guidelines. By being the first integrated transport utility in India to adopt this framework, APSEZ sets a new benchmark for infrastructure development that is positive for nature.

The TNFD is a global, science-based initiative created by a coalition including the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, the United Nations Development Programme, the World Wildlife Fund, and Global Canopy. It provides guidance for companies to identify, assess, manage, and disclose nature-related risks and opportunities. By joining this initiative, APSEZ aligns with leading global port operators in promoting biodiversity and demonstrates its commitment to protecting marine ecosystems through transparent, science-based environmental reporting.
Under this commitment, APSEZ will enhance its corporate disclosure standards to align fully with TNFD recommendations beginning in FY26. This effort is a key part of APSEZ’s broader ESG strategy and reflects a proactive approach to evaluating and addressing nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities. The company has already institutionalized climate risk assessment and disclosure practices in line with international frameworks and continues to lead in environmental stewardship.
APSEZ has afforested more than 4,200 hectares of mangroves and actively conserves an additional 3,000 hectares, making it the largest private-sector contributor to mangrove ecosystem restoration in India. These initiatives not only boost biodiversity but also serve as natural buffers against climate risks, enhancing long-term business resilience for the company.
