The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on Thursday announced it has signed an agreement with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the design, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning of track works for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.

Sharing the news on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), NHSRCL highlighted that the contract covers track works for four stations and a rolling stock depot at Thane, a key milestone in India’s first bullet train initiative. The package spans a 157 km alignment from Mumbai to Zaroli village.

Earlier in September, the Ministry of Railways completed the second 100-metre span of a steel bridge across NH-48 in Anand, Gujarat, forming a 200-metre bridge weighing approximately 2,884 metric tons, a significant step toward the bullet train project. Another bridge, a 70-metre steel structure weighing 677 metric tons, is being assembled at Cadilla Road for the same corridor.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently confirmed that viaduct construction in the Dahanu-Palghar area is underway following the completion of a 319 km viaduct, further advancing the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail line.
