The Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Express was flagged off by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on November 1, 2026, marking the introduction of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper service in South India. The train will connect Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai.

The regular Mumbai–Bengaluru service will begin on November 2, while the Bengaluru–Mumbai service will commence on November 3. The train will operate six days a week, offering passengers an overnight travel option between the two major cities.
Route, timings and stoppages
Train No. 27652 will depart from Bengaluru at 7:45 pm and reach Mumbai at 11:55 am the following day. The journey will take approximately 16 hours and 10 minutes.
The return service, Train No. 27651, will leave Mumbai at 8:10 pm and arrive in Bengaluru at noon the next day. It will cover the route in approximately 15 hours and 50 minutes.
The train will stop at Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan. It will not operate on Mondays from Bengaluru and Tuesdays from Mumbai.
The service will cover approximately 1,118 km. Compared with the existing Udyan Express, which takes around 22 hours, the new train is expected to reduce travel time by nearly six hours.
Ticket prices and booking demand
The 16-coach train will offer three air-conditioned travel classes: AC Three-Tier, AC Two-Tier and AC First Class.
The Bengaluru–Mumbai ticket fares are:
| Travel class | Ticket fare |
| AC Three-Tier | ₹2,810 |
| AC Two-Tier | ₹3,630 |
| AC First Class | ₹4,450 |
Bookings opened at 8 am on October 31, and tickets for the initial days were booked within hours. According to IRCTC booking data reported by The Indian Express, several classes had already moved to waiting-list status ahead of the launch.
The strong demand reflects passenger interest in a faster overnight rail connection between Bengaluru and Mumbai.
A boost to overnight rail connectivity
The new service is expected to benefit business travellers, professionals, students, traders and tourists travelling between Karnataka and Maharashtra. It will also improve connectivity for passengers in parts of Andhra Pradesh and North Karnataka.
The launch expands the Vande Bharat Sleeper network and adds another premium overnight travel option to India’s railway system.
