India’s BrahMos supersonic cruise missile is emerging as a major defence export, with overseas sales expected to cross $600 million. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said India has contracts or agreements involving three Southeast Asian countries — the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The Philippines was the first foreign customer and has received BrahMos systems worth around $330 million. Vietnam’s initial exports are expected to be worth about $100 million, while Indonesia’s deal is estimated at around $200 million. Together, these deals could take BrahMos exports beyond the $600 million mark.
Singh described BrahMos as a benchmark for India’s emerging defence export capabilities. The missile is available in different configurations, including an air-launched version integrated with India’s Su-30MKI fighter aircraft. He also highlighted its use during Operation Sindoor as a demonstration of the system’s operational capability.
The growing BrahMos export pipeline comes as India expands its high-value defence manufacturing and overseas sales. India’s defence exports reached a record ₹38,424 crore in FY2025-26, up 62.66% from the previous year, with Indian defence products now reaching more than 80 countries.
