India captain Shubman Gill created history during the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati, becoming only the second batter in ODI cricket to score more than one double century. Gill smashed an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls as India chased down a target of 406 with eight wickets in hand.

Gill reached his double century in just 117 balls, making it the fastest 200 in ODI history. His innings included 24 fours and seven sixes. He also brought up his century in 62 balls, his fastest ODI hundred.
With this achievement, Gill joined Rohit Sharma in the elite list of batters with multiple ODI double centuries. Gill had previously scored 208 against New Zealand in 2023, while Rohit remains the only batter with three ODI double centuries.
Gill’s record knock came alongside Rohit Sharma’s 101 off 75 balls. The pair added 255 runs for the opening wicket as India successfully chased 406, their highest successful ODI chase. India reached the target in 43.3 overs, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
