JSW Motors is preparing for a major entry into India’s passenger vehicle market, with electric and other new-energy vehicles at the centre of its strategy.

The new independent automotive venture plans to introduce as many as 15 new-energy vehicles over the next four years, covering multiple segments and powertrain technologies. The first model is expected towards the end of 2026, with deliveries likely to begin between December 2026 and early 2027.
JSW is expected to focus strongly on SUVs, with electric models forming an important part of the planned portfolio. The company is also exploring plug-in hybrid and other electrified powertrains as it builds its presence in the Indian market.
The upcoming range is expected to include models developed through JSW’s partnership with Chinese automaker Chery. Several electrified SUVs are reportedly being considered, including models based on Chery’s global platforms.
The move marks a significant expansion of JSW Group’s presence in India’s passenger vehicle industry. The company has already established itself in the automotive sector through its partnership with MG Motor India.
With India’s electric vehicle market becoming increasingly competitive, JSW’s planned portfolio could give consumers more options across different price segments while intensifying competition among established and new EV manufacturers.
JSW is also exploring broader automotive partnerships. The group has recently entered discussions with Volkswagen and Skoda over a potential passenger-vehicle joint venture covering electric vehicles, hybrids, plug-in hybrids and conventional vehicles.
