Maruti Suzuki India has crossed a major export milestone, with cumulative shipments of its Made-in-India Jimny 5-door, Fronx and e Vitara to Japan surpassing 1 lakh units. The achievement highlights the growing acceptance of Indian-made vehicles in one of the world’s most competitive automobile markets.

Maruti Suzuki began exporting the Fronx to Japan in August 2024, followed by the Jimny 5-door in December 2024. The company’s first battery electric vehicle, the e Vitara, joined the Japan export portfolio in September 2025. The Jimny 5-door and e Vitara are manufactured exclusively in India.
Japan was Maruti Suzuki’s second-largest export market by volume in FY2025-26 and retained that position during April-August of FY2026-27. The company said its India-made vehicles accounted for nearly 100% of Suzuki Motor Corporation’s vehicle imports into Japan in FY2025-26.
The milestone further strengthens India’s role in Suzuki’s global manufacturing and export strategy. Maruti Suzuki currently exports vehicles to nearly 120 countries and shipped more than 1.8 lakh units during April-August FY2026-27.
