Ambuja Cements, part of the Adani Group, has announced a ₹14,500-crore investment plan to expand its cement manufacturing capacity to 155 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by the financial year 2030. The company’s next phase of expansion will add around 30 MTPA through new greenfield and brownfield projects across six states.

The expansion will strengthen Ambuja’s manufacturing network in eastern, western and northern India. The company currently has a cement capacity of 113.5 MTPA, supported by 24 integrated plants and 24 grinding units.
Expansion Across Six States
The planned capacity additions will cover Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The programme includes around 15.5 MTPA of additional grinding capacity in the western region, 11.6 MTPA in the east and 2.9 MTPA in the north.
In the eastern region, new grinding units are planned at Rangia and Hojai in Assam, Godda in Jharkhand and Muzaffarpur in Bihar. In the west, the projects include Mundra and Hazira in Gujarat, along with Raigad, Kalyan, Dahanu and Amravati in Maharashtra. The northern expansion includes a second line at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.
The programme also includes 10.3 MTPA of additional clinker capacity at Umrangso in Assam, Maratha in Maharashtra and Mundra in Gujarat. These facilities will support the expanded grinding network.
Capacity to Reach 119 MTPA by March 2027
Ambuja Cements has already added 4.6 MTPA of capacity during the first half of FY27 through projects at Dahej in Gujarat, Salai Banwa in Uttar Pradesh and Kalamboli in Maharashtra.
Another 5.6 MTPA is expected to be commissioned or ramped up during the second half of FY27. This includes projects at Bathinda in Punjab, Jodhpur in Rajasthan and Warisaliganj in Bihar. The company expects its total capacity to reach 119 MTPA by the end of March 2027.
Since its acquisition, Ambuja has completed 11 capacity projects, adding 16.3 MTPA of cement capacity and 9 MTPA of clinker capacity up to September 30, 2026.
Focus on Manufacturing and Logistics Costs
The expansion is aimed at increasing market reach while improving manufacturing and logistics efficiencies. By locating production facilities closer to high-growth markets, Ambuja expects to reduce transportation distances and associated costs.
Vinod Bahety, CEO of the Adani Group’s cement business, said the company is targeting a manufacturing cost of ₹4,000 per tonne by FY28. The planned investments are part of Ambuja’s wider strategy to expand its market presence and strengthen its manufacturing network.
