Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday, with the two leaders discussing ways to further strengthen the India-Germany strategic partnership.
The leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation as India and Germany mark 75 years of diplomatic relations this year. They noted the continued momentum in high-level exchanges and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across several key sectors.
The discussions covered trade and investment, advanced technologies, clean energy, defence, education and talent mobility. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
Germany also stressed the importance of quickly concluding the India-European Union free trade agreement, according to the German Chancellor’s office. The leaders discussed security cooperation and agreed to continue working closely on issues linked to global peace, stability and prosperity.
The conversation comes as India and Germany seek to deepen their strategic and economic partnership, with greater cooperation in technology, energy, defence and trade emerging as key areas of engagement
