The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) has inaugurated its new Kochi Campus at Kalamassery, marking a major expansion of its presence in Kerala’s business hub. The new Urban Learning Centre aims to strengthen technology-enabled management education, executive learning, research and industry collaboration.

Inaugurating the campus, IIM Kozhikode Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee described the facility as a new chapter in the institute’s journey as it approaches its 30th anniversary in 2026. Kochi Metro Rail Ltd Managing Director Shri Loknath Behera attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
Located near the Cochin University Metro Station, the campus offers strong connectivity through Kochi Metro, highways and major transport networks. Its location within Kochi’s education, industrial and innovation ecosystem is expected to make it a key centre for management learning and industry engagement.
Developed by Kochi Metro Rail Limited, the 40,000 sq. ft., six-storey campus features modern architecture, sustainable design elements and advanced learning infrastructure. The facility includes smart classrooms, digital teaching systems, collaborative spaces, a library, cafeteria and student interaction areas designed to support hybrid and technology-driven learning models.
The new campus builds on IIM Kozhikode’s Kochi journey that began in 2012 with its satellite centre at Infopark, Kakkanad. Over the years, the centre has grown as a destination for executive education and undergraduate programmes. The Kalamassery campus will further expand these activities by creating a stronger connection between academics, industry and innovation.
Initially, the campus will host IIM Kozhikode’s Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) and Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP). The institute plans to introduce more specialised programmes, executive courses, management development initiatives and global collaborations from the new facility.
Prof. Debashis Chatterjee said the campus reflects IIM Kozhikode’s vision of building an accessible, digitally connected and globally integrated management education ecosystem. He also appreciated Kochi Metro Rail Limited for developing the landmark facility and highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in creating infrastructure that supports education and innovation.
The new Kochi Campus is expected to emerge as a major hub for management education, research, entrepreneurship and industry partnerships, strengthening Kerala’s position as a leading knowledge destination.
