Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has expanded its Duty-Free Shop at the International Terminal (T2), introducing Kerala’s first AI-powered customer assistance robot along with a wider range of premium products and digital shopping features.
Operated by TRV (Kerala) International Airport Limited (TIAL), the newly upgraded outlet is nearly twice the size of the previous store, offering travellers a more spacious and modern retail experience.
A major attraction is the AI-powered robot, the first of its kind at a Duty-Free store in Kerala. The robot helps passengers find products, provides information on ongoing offers, and guides shoppers through the store. As part of the launch, it also distributes exclusive digital gift vouchers worth ₹500 and ₹1,000, allowing eligible customers to save more on their purchases.
The expanded store features a broader selection of international brands while adding new lifestyle categories such as fashion bags, sunglasses, and watches. In another first for Kerala’s airport retail sector, the Duty-Free outlet now includes a dedicated supermart section offering food and non-food essentials, enabling passengers to shop for a wider variety of travel and everyday products in one place.
The airport has also introduced digitally signed invoices delivered through WhatsApp, becoming the first Duty-Free retailer in Kerala to offer a completely paperless billing experience.
According to a TIAL spokesperson, the upgraded Duty-Free shop reflects the airport’s commitment to enhancing passenger convenience through digital innovation, premium retail offerings, and customer-focused services. The expansion is expected to further strengthen Thiruvananthapuram International Airport’s position as a preferred international gateway.
To mark the launch, the Duty-Free store is offering several promotional benefits. Travellers purchasing select Indian brands under the ‘Make in India’ initiative will receive assured gifts, while eligible shoppers can also receive a complimentary premium strolley worth ₹4,999 on qualifying purchases, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
