The UAE has officially launched Etihad Rail’s first passenger train service, with the inaugural route connecting Abu Dhabi and Fujairah in just 1 hour and 45 minutes. The launch marks a historic milestone in the country’s transport infrastructure and the beginning of a nationwide passenger rail network.

The service currently operates three daily trips in each direction, with fares starting at AED 55 for Comfort Class and AED 120 for Premium Class. Passengers can book tickets through the Etihad Rail website and mobile app, with more than 10,000 tickets sold even before the official launch.
The network will expand in phases, adding Dubai, Al Dhaid, Sharjah and other destinations, eventually linking 11 cities across all seven emirates. Future plans also include integration with the wider GCC railway network, strengthening regional connectivity.
Designed to offer a faster, more sustainable alternative to road travel, Etihad Rail is expected to boost tourism, reduce travel times and support economic growth while transforming the way people travel across the UAE.
