Sathya Shankar’s entrepreneurial journey is a remarkable story of perseverance, resilience, and innovation. Born into a modest family, he had to discontinue his studies after Class 12 due to financial constraints and began driving an autorickshaw to support his family and repay loans.
Determined to improve his circumstances, Shankar ventured into the spare-parts business before expanding into financial services. Over time, he accumulated enough experience and capital to establish a manufacturing unit near Puttur in Karnataka and launch the Bindu brand.

His breakthrough came with Bindu Fizz Jeera Masala, inspired by a local beverage concept he encountered during a visit to North India. The product struck a chord with consumers seeking distinctly Indian flavours, helping Bindu carve out a niche in a market long dominated by multinational beverage companies.
Today, Bindu has evolved into a beverage business with revenues estimated at around ₹900 crore, making it one of India’s notable homegrown success stories. The journey highlights how determination, market insight, and a willingness to take risks can transform a small idea into a nationally recognized brand.
