Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to France and Slovakia next week as part of a two-nation visit, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday.

The trip begins on Saturday in Nice, where Modi is scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron. He will then travel to Slovakia on Sunday for talks with Prime Minister Robert Fico. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country’s independence in 1993.
Following the Slovakia visit, Modi will return to France to attend the G7 Summit, which will be held on June 16–17 at the Alpine resort town of Evian. The summit brings together leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States. US President Donald Trump has confirmed his participation, and Indian officials said Modi is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with global leaders on the sidelines.
After the G7 Summit, the Prime Minister will travel to Paris to attend the VivaTech Summit, one of Europe’s largest technology and startup events. The government said the visit will highlight India’s role in innovation, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship, while also supporting new partnerships with Europe.
Officials noted that discussions around trade are also progressing, with India and the United States reportedly close to finalising the first phase of a trade agreement.
The visit follows Modi’s recent multi-nation tour of the United Arab Emirates and several European countries. The government also acknowledged ongoing global energy pressures linked to geopolitical tensions, which continue to impact economic conditions and fuel consumption in India.
