Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has secured a 10-year marine services contract for Argentina’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export project, marking a significant milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy.

The contract was awarded to Adani Harbour International FZCO, a subsidiary of APSEZ, through a consortium with Argentina-based Meridian Group following a global competitive bidding process conducted by Southern Energy SA.
Under the agreement, the consortium will provide a range of marine services including tugboat operations for LNG carriers, offshore logistics support, supply services, and crew transportation.
The project will deploy four advanced tugboats, an anchor handling tug supply vessel, and a dedicated crew boat to support operations.
The contract also marks Adani Ports’ entry into South America, further expanding its global marine services footprint. The company currently operates marine services across multiple countries supporting ports, LNG terminals, refineries, and offshore energy facilities.
The LNG export project is located in Argentina’s Río Negro Province and is being developed by Southern Energy SA, a joint venture between Golar LNG and Pan American Energy.
Commercial operations are expected to begin in 2027, with the facility projected to produce 2.45 million tonnes of LNG annually in its first phase, making it Argentina’s first operational LNG export project.
The development is also strategically significant for India, as Argentina is expected to become an important LNG supplier with agreements supporting exports of up to 10 million tonnes annually to India from 2027.
