Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone is pushing deeper into Europe’s offshore and subsea services market through a new partnership between its marine platform Astro Offshore and US-based engineering firm Oceaneering International.

The collaboration marks a strategic step for Adani Ports as it expands beyond traditional port operations into high-value underwater and offshore infrastructure services. The focus is on building a large global marine ecosystem covering offshore logistics, subsea engineering and deepwater project support.
As part of this expansion, Astro Offshore has acquired a 97-metre DP2 multipurpose support vessel, Energy Savannah, which will be renamed Astro Atlas. The vessel is designed for complex offshore work such as subsea construction, cable laying and pipeline installation in deep and ultra-deep waters, operating at depths beyond 3,000 metres. It is equipped with heavy-duty cranes, a moonpool system and accommodation for up to 100 personnel, making it suitable for large-scale offshore operations.
The partnership combines Astro Offshore’s growing fleet with Oceaneering’s expertise in deepwater engineering and remotely operated underwater systems. Together, the companies aim to bid for and execute advanced offshore projects in Europe.
Adani Ports has outlined an ambitious capital expenditure plan of around ₹13,000 crore by FY31 to develop a 200-vessel global marine fleet. The broader goal is to build one of the world’s largest integrated marine platforms, spanning subsea services, offshore logistics and deepwater infrastructure support.
Company leadership said the move is part of a long-term strategy to build a globally diversified marine business, with marine revenue targets of about ₹6,000 crore by FY31.
