In a major boost to India’s agri-export sector, Ladakh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LuLu Group International to export 1,000 metric tonnes of apricots to global markets.

The deal marks a huge leap from just 1,500 kg exported over the past two years, highlighting the untapped potential of Ladakh’s horticulture sector.
Under the agreement, LuLu will procure apricots directly from farmers and manage the entire value chain, including plucking, sorting, processing, packaging, transportation, and international marketing.
The initiative focuses on promoting Ladakh’s premium varieties such as GI-tagged Raktsey Karpo and Halman apricots, known for their quality and taste.
Officials say the partnership will help reduce post-harvest losses, ensure better pricing, and provide direct economic benefits to farmers, while also strengthening Ladakh’s global identity in agricultural exports.
The move is being seen as a historic step in integrating remote regions into global trade networks and boosting India’s agri-export ambitions.
